ReFRESH confab to focus on relationship with Christ

January 30, 2013 By Brian Koonce

BRANSON – ReFRESH, the 2013 state evangelism conference, is coming up quickly Feb. 28 and March 1 at First Baptist, Branson.

More than just an exhortation to church leaders to “go and tell,” ReFRESH is an evangelism/ discipleship event based on a program from Sherwood Baptist Church in Georgia. Speakers include: Michael Catt, pastor of Sherwood Baptist; International Mission Board President Tom Elliff; Pastor Ronnie Floyd; Ken Jenkins, photographer and naturalist; Daniel Simmons, senior pastor, Mount Zion Baptist Church, Albany, Ga.; and Mark Willard, associate pastor of worship at Sherwood.

“We’re hearing from our pastors that their relationship with Jesus is the priority,” said Mark Snowden, State Cooperative Program Missionary for Evangelism/Discipleship. “Everything else is secondary to that. This is the idea of coming away from activities, the world and pressures to focus on your relationship with Christ, preferably with your spouse. We want you to rekindle that passion for living out your call.

“Restoring that passion for Christ will spill over into all areas of your life, including evangelism,” he said. There won’t be training or breakout sessions, or “sugar sticks” as Snowden puts it.

“This is about church leaders and spouses getting away and truly focusing on Jesus,” he said.

Registration begins at 4:30, and the evening session runs 6-8:30 p.m. The next day’s sessions run 8:30- 11 a.m., 2-4 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m.

ReFRESH events normally cost $150 per person, but thanks to Cooperative Program gifts, there is no fee for the Branson conference. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. As of press time, more than 500 of the 750 slots for the program were full.

Pre-register online at www.mobaptist.org/sec or contact the Evangelism/Discipleship office at 800-736-6227 ext 651.
