Waynesville pastor named MBC DR director

May 24, 2012 By The Pathway

WAYNESVILLE – Dwain Carter, who most recently pastored Harmony Baptist Church here, is going to lead Missouri Baptists’ Disaster Relief (DR) efforts effective June 1.

“Everyone who knows Dwain has said there couldn’t be a more perfect job description for the way God created him,” said Rick Hedger, Cooperative Program State Missionary/Missional Evangelism /Discipleship for the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC).

A Missouri native, Carter has pastored Harmony for the past 13 years, and has been involved in DR work since before Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He has led units there, in Missouri during ice storms and several tornadoes, and elsewhere.

As Disaster Relief Director, Carter will work with the Missional Evangelism/Discipleship Team of the MBC executive board staff, and report to Hedger. He will get a chance to meet DR volunteers in his new capacity for a DR Roundtable at a date to be set in July and will represent Missouri at the national DR meeting in August.

Carter and his wife, Leslie, will be moving to Jefferson City soon.
