JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Baptist Convention’s (MBC) 8th annual Prayer Service for State Government Leaders is scheduled for Jan. 4, 9 a.m., at Concord Baptist Church here.
The event brings together Missouri government leaders and citizens for a time of worship and prayer for the new legislative year. Gov. Jay Nixon, along with many members of the Missouri General Assembly, the Missouri Supreme Court and their families and staffs are expected to attend.
This year’s featured speaker will be the MBC’s new executive director, John Yeats. Yeats was overwhelmingly elected the 20th executive director of the MBC Oct. 13 during a special called session of the MBC Executive Board. There will also be special music provided by a variety of vocalists and instrumentalists.
Prayers will be offered by MBC staff and area pastors in behalf of the governor and the executive branch, the Missouri House of Representatives, the Missouri Senate and the Missouri Supreme Court.
The event is sponsored by the MBC’s Christian Life Commission, The Pathway and Concord Baptist Church.
The public is encouraged to attend.
