Volunteers, donations still much needed for Joplin

June 26, 2011 By The Pathway

JOPLIN – The official Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) Disaster Relief (DR) response is drawing to a close, but churches, volunteers and donations will remain a great need through the summer and the remainder of the year.

Rick Seaton MBC director for DR, said people wanting to help rebuild or clean up should contact Spring River Baptist Association.

“[Steve Patterson] will connect you to the local churches there and give more up-to-date needs,” Seaton said.

Spring River’s phone number is (417) 782-3770. Its website – www.springriverbaptist.com – also lists avenues for financial assistance. Donors can also give online to MBC Disaster Relief at www.mobaptist.org/modr.

The MBC chainsaw, communication, shower/laundry, feeding, childcare and chaplain units are officially shut down, but not before an estimated 2,575 volunteer days.
