Hannibal – Marc Neddo, missionary in the French Alps, will be the featured speaker for the eighth annual Carroll Missions Week at Hannibal-LaGrange University (HLGU), March 16-18.
Each year, HLGU celebrates their global vision through a week of emphasizing missions on campus. Missionaries from all over the world travel to the HLGU campus to interact with students. From Africa, Asia, Central America, Europe, and South America, HLGU students have the opportunity to not only listen to these missionaries speak, but to sit down one-on-one and discuss their experiences and potential opportunities to serve. This year, Carroll Missions Week will feature Marc Neddo, co-director of Camp of the Peaks in the French Alps.
“Camp of the Peaks is a vacation center that is a haven for God in France to save the lost and strengthen the found,” says Neddo, who has been there full time since 2004, but has been involved with the camp since the 70’s (his father was one of the founders). He was born and raised in France and holds both French and American citizenship. Neddo holds a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in sports management/physical education, and is a nationally licensed soccer coach. After graduating from Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn., in 1992, Neddo began his return to Camp of the Peaks in 1998 and has served there every summer since then, while teaching at Bryan College. In 2003 Neddo transitioned to full time at Camp of the Peaks. While on state-side assignments Neddo has served HLGU in a variety of ways: in the athletic department (2005), as missions director (2008) and this academic year as Missionary in Residence.
The schedule for Carroll Missions Week includes services on March 16-18 mornings at 10 a.m. in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center, and evening services on March 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. in the Carroll Missions Center. Guests representing several missions organizations – including Pathway Editor Don Hinkle – will also be on campus during the college’s missions emphasis week. The public is invited to all services.
Carroll Missions Week is a result of the vision and generous resources of Rheyma and the late Kenneth Carroll of Monroe City. Before his death in 2008, Carroll said he wanted to do something that would make a difference in eternity. Through the establishment of the Carroll Missions Week and the building of the Carroll Missions Center, the Carrolls are touching eternity through the lives of thousands of HLGU students. Rheyma continues this vision by supporting student missionaries who go out from HLGU and impact the world for Christ.
