On-the-fly Annual Meeting Vote Results

October 26, 2010 By The Pathway

Messengers to the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Missouri Baptist Convention in Springfield have taken votes on two issues of note. This is an incomplete (and unedited) report and The Pathway will have more results after the meeting is over. Keep checking www.mbcpathway.com for updates.

Messengers rejected a motion to end the MBC’s legal battle with its former agencies, 79 percent to 21.

The MBC Exec. Board had recommended a motion on behalf of the Trustees of Hannibal-LaGrange College to change their name to University of Hannibal. After some debate, an amendment to change that recommendation to Hannibal-LaGrange University “overwhelmingly passed” 62 percent to 38. Technically, the change will take place as soon as lawyers can file the proper paper work at the Missouri Secretary of State’s office, but HLG officials have said they will begin calling the school Hannibal-LaGrange University Jan. 1, 2011.
