ST. LOUIS—First Baptist Church, St. John, will be a “beta church” for “The Story,” an inspirational and revolutionary new study published by Zondervan and first tested at Oak Hills Church by nationally renowned pastors/authors Max Lucado and Randy Frazee.
“When you ask most people what they think about the Bible, they might say: ‘Boring. Irrelevant. Too long. Hard to understand,’” said Lead Pastor Ken Lovelace of First St. John. “We all have our reasons for not reading the Bible. But ‘The Story’ is different. You’ll be swept up into the progression of characters and events as you discover the theme of God’s Plan woven throughout the Bible from beginning to end. No matter your age, or where you are on your spiritual journey, you will be captivated with a new and deeper understanding of The Greatest Story Ever Told.”
First St. John will be one of a handful of beta churches across the country selected to implement the church-wide campaign beginning Oct. 3 at its St. Charles Rock Road location. The study will involve both the Sunday morning Bible study at 9 a.m. and the morning worship celebration at 10:15 for the duration of “The Story.”
“We are excited to be a part of this cutting-edge study,” Lovelace said. “Unpacking the Bible in a way that is practical, logical, and ultimately understandable for people of all ages is one of our church’s core objectives. We are confident that ‘The Story’ will have a dramatic impact on the unchurched and churched alike.”
First St. John meets every Sunday morning at 10:15 at 8665 Saint Charles Rock Road (near Interstate 170 and The Rock Road). Now, the challenge before the congregation is to learn to read the Bible as one seamless story from beginning to end.
First St. John is affiliated with the Missouri Baptist Convention. For more information, go to www.firstbaptistchurchstjohn.com.
