ORLANDO, Fla. (BP) – A Missouri Baptist pastor has been named chairman of the 2010-11 Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Committee on Nominations.

ORLANDO, Fla. (BP) – A Missouri Baptist pastor has been named chairman of the 2010-11 Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Committee on Nominations.

Doug Richey, pastor, Pisgah Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs, will head the committee that is charged with nominating people to serve on the SBC’s boards, commissions and committees. The committee will bring its report to the 2011 SBC annual meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.

In addition, Richey will be joined on the committee by Jody Shelenhamer, a Missouri layman and member of First Baptist Church, Bolivar. Shelenhamer also serves on the Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board.

The two Missourians are among 70 Southern Baptists from 35 state Baptist conventions who have been named to the SBC Committee on Nominations.

The committee is made up of two people from each state convention, with at least one layperson.

An asterisk denotes the committee member is a layperson. All others are church vocational workers.
