Preaching workshop offers promise of awakening

April 13, 2010 By The Pathway

There is still time for you to make your reservation to the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) April 19-20 Preaching Workshop at Skyline Baptist Church in Branson. The theme is “Preaching for Spiritual Awakening: Sowing Down the Gospel of Peace,” based on 2 Chron. 7:14 and James 3:18.

Feel free to register online at www.mobaptist.org/preachingworkshop. It costs $25 before April 10 and $35 after April 13 and at the door. For more information, contact Betty Benz, ministry assistant in the prayer and spiritual awakening office at 1-800-736-6227, ext. 462, or at bbenz@mobaptist.org. Scholarships are available upon request.

Registration is at noon Monday with the session beginning at 1 p.m. Dinner is at 5:10 p.m. followed by the evening session at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday the 8 a.m. session runs to 11:30 a.m. (lunch) with the final session starting at 12:45 p.m.

On the program are: Kerry Skinner, author and senior associate pastor of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, Mobile, Ala.; Charles Roesel, director of the Ministry Training Center for the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, Fla.; Norm Howell, host pastor; Neil Franks, pastor, First Baptist Church, Branson; Leroy Fountain, urban church planting consultant, North American Mission Board; and John Francis, MBC worship specialist.

Pastors may be wondering, “Why should I attend a Preaching Workshop? What’s in it for me?”

I believe those two questions are inadequate. The real questions are as follows: What will it take to turn our nation back to God? What will it take to heal our land? What do we really need?

The answer is simple. We need revival and spiritual awakening. That will come through the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“How can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they be sent? And how can they be sent unless they come and learn of Him?”

I am praying that you will be equipped to preach with revival passion and the power of the Holy Spirit.

We’ll see you in Branson. (Bob Loggins is the Missouri Baptist Convention’s prayer and spiritual awakening specialist.)
