Esther Baptist given
Sunday School
Growth Award

PARK HILLS – Esther Baptist Church here became the first church in Missouri to receive a “Show-Me Growth: Missouri Sunday School Growth Award Plan” Certificate of Recognition. Mark Donnell, Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) State Sunday School Director, awarded the Silver Level Certificate of Recognition to Bob Price, Esther Baptist’s Sunday School director, and Jonathan Jones, pastor, during the morning worship service Nov. 16.

During the 2007-2008 Sunday School year, the church saw an 11 percent increase in Sunday School attendance, and a 44 percent increase in Sunday School enrollment. Esther also started two new Sunday School classes. The church has a monthly outreach ministry and conducts monthly Sunday School workers’ meetings.

“The Show-Me Growth: Missouri Sunday School Growth Award Plan” was begun to increase awareness for the need in Sunday School growth among MBC churches. The plan has three levels: bronze, silver, and gold. Each level has requirements that must be met in order to receive a Certificate of Recognition. More information can be found at the Sunday School/Discipleship Ministry web site: www.mobaptist.org/ssd.

Missouri DR volunteer Toby Tucker receives Distinguished Service Award

Tharran Gaines

Anyone who knows MODR volunteer Toby Tucker already knows that the Distinguished Service Award he received from Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and Send Relief was well deserved. Presented in recognition of exceptional service during a disaster and based on the most recent year of responses, the Distinguished Service Award is like an All-Star award for volunteers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty during an actual response or series of responses during the most recent year.
