First Baptist, Wright City to observe 150th
WRIGHT CITY – First Baptist Church, Wright City, will observe its 150th anniversary with a special service on Nov. 16. The events will include guest speaker Steve Hodges, pastor, First Baptist Church, Horine; a carry-in lunch and a special time of worship, according to Chad Hodges, pastor, First Baptist, Wright City
Bethel Baptist Church enjoys high attendance
WEST PLAINS – “The Lord blessed us this past Sunday by helping us to exceed our Sunday School attendance goal of 117,” said Neal Myers, pastor, Bethel Baptist Church. “We counted 119.”
The church followed that with a record attendance of 157 in the morning worship service, during which one was baptized and another was accepted for baptism. In the afternoon there was a restatement of vows for Will and Kay Guernsey, marking their 40th anniversary. That was followed by a picnic, three hay rides and a bonfire.
Correction on Jones’ church membership
KANSAS CITY – In the Oct. 21 edition of The Pathway, Welby Jones, who was recommended to serve on the MBC Committee on Convention Committees, was misidentified as a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church, Raytown. Jones is a member of Sterling Acres Baptist Church, Kansas City. The Pathway is glad to set the record straight.
First Baptist, Gilliam, expresses love for pastor
GILLIAM – First Baptist Church, Gilliam, took Pastor Appreciation Month seriously by honoring Pastor Chris Weber.
They began by planning and organizing early. An Action Calendar was setup and members volunteered to take one day of October to make contact with Pastor Chris Weber to make certain that he knew that he was appreciated.
Appreciation cards were sent daily. Phone calls, emails, and visits came daily. Gifts included meals out and carried in, flowers, gift certificates, pies of several different kinds, a ham, a neck tie, and tickets to use the ferry to Glasco since the bridge is out.
Sunday gifts by the congregation included potted mums, special music by a quartet and the pastor’s favorite candy bars, framed art, and a congregational dinner, special cake, and a guest preacher on Oct. 26.
