HLG nursing accredited through 2012
Hannibal – The Hannibal-LaGrange College (HLG) Division of Nursing is pleased to announce continuing accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) through 2012.
NLNAC is a nationally recognized accrediting agency for nursing programs, and is a voluntary process that recognizes programs which meet or exceed standards and criteria for educational quality. In addition to accreditation by NLNAC, Hannibal-LaGrange College is also accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The HLG Division of Nursing has also received approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing to increase enrollment in the Nursing (ASN) program. Diane Bibb, MSN, RN, Director of Nursing and Allied Health, states that “We accepted 35 students into the class of 2009 this fall, which is a record number for this program. This increase was made possible after we were approved for the increase by the State Board of Nursing.”
The Nursing Division is also pleased to announce that for the third consecutive year, HLG Nursing graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) for registered nurses. This pass rate applies to all graduates of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Program.
“Our Nursing students successfully completed a rigorous program and we are extremely proud of their 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX,” said Bibb. “Our nursing faculty is committed to excellence in the profession of nursing and a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX for three consecutive years clearly demonstrates that commitment.”
The Hannibal-LaGrange Associate Degree Nursing Program prepares graduates to achieve success on the NCLEX-RN as well as to become proficient nurses. Students are trained in academic and various clinical settings which enable them to learn trends, issues, and technology that shape the practice of nursing.
According to Bibb, every nursing graduate from the class of 2007 has accepted employment in the healthcare field in the states of Missouri, Illinois, Texas and Minnesota.
