First Birch Tree goes fishing for souls through tournament
BIRCH TREE – In the fourth chapter of Matthew, Jesus tells His disciples He will make them fishers of men if they will follow Him. It’s an offer First Baptist Church took seriously and literally.
The church recently hosted a free kid’s catch-and-release fishing tournament. More than 100 people attended where they fished, received Bibles and heard the Gospel from Howell Baptist Association Director of Missions Bob Wood.
“We’ve seen a lot of lost people here today,” said pastor Aaron Davis. “If we can’t reach them in a pew, we can reach them on the bank of a pond.”
The church is continuing to follow up on the contacts it made through the fishing tournament.
“We’ve had quite a few families express interest in visiting our church,” he said.
