Acteens meeting at Windermere Nov. 8-10

March 12, 2007 By The Pathway

November 5, 2002

LAKE OF THE OZARKS – The annual Missouri Acteen Retreat is scheduled for the Windermere Baptist Conference Center Nov. 8-10. This year’s theme, "Dive!," is based on the Stephen Curtis Chapman hit song.

"We will be diving into missions, Bible study and Christian lifestyles," according to Rhonda Myers, Missouri WMU specialist.

DeAnna Sanders, writer for Accent magazine, will be the featured speaker and Southwest Baptist University’s "High Ground" will provide music for the retreat which begins with a "scavenger hunt" on the grounds on the afternoon of Nov. 8.

"A ShareFair is being held where all girls or groups are encouraged to bring a display of pictures and other hands-on objects related to their mission projects/trips so others will gain inspiration and knowledge on ways to serve the Lord," Myers explained. "A Cyber Café to contact missionaries around the world and door prizes will add to the festivities.

"A special offering will be taken Nov. 9 to defray some of the expenses for a young lady from Belarus to come to Missouri and travel to NAC with us," Myers said. "Later that evening a global fashion show will be held before smores are served. Each girl or group is invited to explore the clothing of a country or state, along with some facts about that place, including which missionary serves there."

The Statewide Mission Project is a cooperative effort with Operation Christmas Child, Myers said. Using a special list of needs, the goal is one shoe box for every attendee coming to the retreat.

Nov. 10 will be a time of renewal and commitment.

"It will focus on the Lord and strengthening our walk with Him," Myers added.

Anyone wanting more information on the retreat may call Myers at 573-636-4409.
