Missourians selected
for Nominations Committee

By Staff

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two Missourians are among the 70 Southern Baptists from 35 state Baptist conventions that have been named to serve on the 2006 Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Committee on Nominations.

Named to the committee are Tom Willoughby, pastor, First Baptist, El Dorado Springs and Rick Powell, a layperson and member of Oakwood Baptist Church, Kansas City. Willoughby is also a member of the Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board.

The Committee on Nominations will nominate people to serve on the SBC’s boards, commissions and committees. They will present their report to the 2007 SBC annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

The committee is made up of two people from each state convention – one in church-related vocational work and one layperson.

Committee on Nominations members are selected by the SBC Committee on Committees. The SBC Committee on Committees is named by the SBC President, in this case by Bobby Welch, pastor, First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, Fla.
