MBC committee seeks nominations

FREDERICKTOWN – The committee nomination process, according to Roger Moran, chairman of the Missouri Baptist Convention’s (MBC) Nominating Committee, is going along smoothly. There are about 20 vacancies, Moran said, and committee members are working hard to fill those openings with qualified Missouri Southern Baptists.

“We’re looking for new people,” said Moran, a member of First Baptist Church, Troy. “We don’t want to keep working the same people through (the system). We’re looking to involve as many Missouri Southern Baptists as we can. We’re looking for people who can do the institutions some good. We’re looking for people who are with us as a convention – solid, Missouri Southern Baptist people.”

The form below can be clipped and used to submit names to Moran.

Recommendations need to be mailed to Moran at P.O. Box 358, Winfield, Mo. 63389. All nominations must be received by Moran by July 3.

Moran said the Nominating Committee is interested in people who have some type of gift or talent to bring to Missouri Southern Baptist life.

“We need those business talents, accounting talents, banking talents and doctor talents,” he said. “With the Baptist Home and the Children’s Home, we need some doctors. And we need pastors, too.”

Moran hesitated to name specific openings on boards, stating simply that he needs nominations for every entity. He said that the picture will become a lot clearer after the Nominating Committee meets. A July meeting also will be helpful in that it will assist committee members as they put the finishing touches on their work, he said.

“I feel pretty good about the process,” he said.

Missouri Baptists are encouraged to visit the MBC Website at www.mobaptist.org/home/nominations to participate by submitting nominations.
