HLG Homecoming events set

HANNIBAL – Hannibal-LaGrange College’s annual homecoming will be Nov. 5 -6.

The college will celebrate with the homecoming theme of “A Blast from the Past.” The festivities begin with the homecoming concert Nov. 3, 7 p.m., in the new Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center. The concert will feature Christian artist Bebo Norman. Tickets are $10 and are available at the student affair’s office at 573-221-3675 ext.231 or the Mustard Seed in the Quincy Mall. Please call to reserve tickets.

On Nov. 5, alumni are invited to attend the Alumni Golf Classic to play a round with President Woodrow Burt. Golfers will tee off at noon at the Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal. The $25 fee includes cart and greens fee.

There will be a President’s Reception, 5 p.m., Nov. 5, in the lobby of the Roland Fine Arts Center to welcome alumni back to campus. It will be followed at 6:30 p.m., by the annual alumni banquet with entertainment provided by HLG performing group Covenant. The banquet will be in the Partee Center Cafeteria. During the banquet the alumni awards will be presented. Following the banquet will be the Homecoming Gala in the Roland Fine Arts Center starting at 8 p.m. This will involve the coronation of the student body’s Homecoming King and Queen. Entertainment will be provided by HLG students, faculty, and staff, and a reception will follow.

On Nov. 6, 9 a.m., a HLG 5k Fun-Run Walk or Jog will commence from the Mabee Sports Complex. There is no entry fee. At 10 a.m., there will be a Homecoming Parade that will begin in downtown Hannibal. The classes of 1953-1959 will be honored at a brunch at 10:30 a.m., in the Page Dining Room in the Partee Center Cafeteria. Trojan fans are invited to the first annual “Turkey Bowl” in which participants will play football with a frozen turkey at noon on the front lawn of the campus.

The dedication of the Carroll Missions Center will take place at 1:15 p.m. During this time HLG will be dedicating its center of recruitment and training for students who feel called to missions. Following the dedication at 1:30 p.m., there will be a reception and tours of the center.

The Lady Trojan volleyball team will be playing, 2 p.m., in the Mabee Sports Complex. Following the 3 p.m. game, there will be a Chili Cook-Off. The public is invited to sample chili made by HLG faculty, staff, and student organizations. The chili will be served on the blue court in the Sports Complex. Also, the Lady Trojans basketball team will take on Iowa Wesleyan at 5 p.m. and HLG’s men’s basketball team will compete against William Penn at 7 p.m. Both games will be held in the Mabee Sports Complex.
