Midwestern offers extension classes

Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS) announces classes are currently forming for Spring 2005 extension courses being offered at four locations across the state of Missouri.

Courses currently enrolling are as follows:

• Basic Evangelism (MN 5200) – A study of the philosophy, nature, and practice of evangelism, both in the personal life of the minister and the corporate life of the church. Credit: 2 hours. Taught by Dr. Tom Johnston, Assistant Professor of Evangelism. (Offered at Southwest Baptist University, 1600 University Ave., Bolivar.)

• Basic Evangelism (MN 5200) – A study of the philosophy, nature, and practice of evangelism, both in the personal life of the minister and the corporate life of the church. Credit: 2 hours. Taught by visiting professor Jim Brown. (Offered at Hannibal La-Grange University, 2800 Palmyra Road, Hannibal.)

• Evangelism Practicum (MN 5230) – A course of study in which the student puts into practice the principles and methods of evangelism. Course study will include participation in servant evangelism, block parties and personal evangelism. Prerequisite: Basic Evangelism (MN 5200). Credit: 1 hour. Taught by visiting professor Jim Brown. (Offered at Hannibal La-Grange University, 2800 Palmyra Road, Hannibal.)

• Evangelism Practicum (MN 5230) – A course of study in which the student puts into practice the principles and methods of evangelism. • History of Christianity II (HT 3101) – A study of the history of Christianity from the Reformation to the present. Credit: 3 hrs. Taught by visiting professor Mike Hawkins. (Offered at Southwest Baptist University, 1600 University Ave., Bolivar.)

• New Testament Survey II: Romans to Revelation (BS 2311) – An expositional survey of Romans through Revelation. Credit: 3 hours. Taught by visiting teacher Dr. Jim Cogdill. (Offered at Cape Girardeau Baptist Associational Office, 5103 Old Cape Road E, Jackson.)

• Elementary Hebrew II (BS 2201) – A study of the fundamentals of Biblical Hebrew grammar and syntax. Prerequisite:  Elementary Hebrew I (BS 2200). Credit: 3 hours. Taught by visiting professor Dr. Curtis McClain. (Offered at St. Louis Baptist Association Offices, 10360 Old Olive Street Road, Creve Coeur.)

• Theology II (HT 3201) – A study of doctrines of the person and work of Christ and salvation, reconciliation, redemption, the church and eschatology. Credit: 3 hours. Taught by Dr. D. Mark DeVine, Associate Professor of Christian Theology. (Offered at St. Louis Baptist Association Offices, 10360 Old Olive Street Road, Creve Coeur.)

EXPLAINER: Protecting children through the 2026 Chloe Cole Act

The Chloe Cole Act of 2026, named for the advocate Chloe Cole who has publicly shared about the horrors of being pushed into “transitioning” in her early teens, prohibits gender transition procedures for minors through regulating interstate commerce. Cole will visit the Missouri Baptist Convention’s Hannibal-LaGrange University, March 25, as the featured speaker for the school’s latest Free Society events.

Tichenor brings academic, philosophical perspectives to MBC apologetics network

Vincent Tichenor, the newest member of the Missouri Baptist Apologetics Network (MBAN), is a medical doctor with a family practice in Walnut Shade. He also works urgent care in addition to running his own practice. He brings the perspective of medical science to the defense of the Christian faith, alongside the varied expertise of his 23 fellow apologists.
