MMO giving tops $600,000 level

By Staff

November 23, 2004

JEFFERSON CITY – The Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering (MMO) through Nov. 19 has topped $600,000, up about $26,000 from last year.

Receipts were at $635,169.94. The total last year at this stage was $609,510.10.

“We’re still hopeful of being able to reach our goal of $750,000,” said David Waganer, Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) associate executive director. “We urge the church treasurers to send in their checks by Dec. 27.”

Last year, $707,059 was raised. In 2002, the amount was $624,930.

Most of the MMO money being raised will go toward missions, church planting, compassion ministries and evangelism in the 2005 MBC budget.

Cultivating wisdom in a post-Christian culture

Harrison Lang

As American Christians in the 21st century, we have already fought many battles over political and cultural issues in the first quarter of this century. These battles have borne real fruit for the cause of Christ and the common good—whether the overturning of Roe v. Wade or the ongoing protection of religious liberty. Contrary to the doom some people have predicted, our nation has seen significant progress. That said, Christians must still engage the public square with confidence and discernment in Christ.
