MMO giving pushes toward $700,000 goal

By Staff

December 9, 2004

JEFFERSON CITY – Giving to the Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering (MMO) through Nov. 30 continues to exceed the pace of last year’s giving and is closing in on $700,000.

Going into December, receipts were at $662,386.40, which was $35,605.30 more than 2003.

Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) Associate Executive Director David Waganer is pleased that the 2004 offering is approaching the $707,059 raised last year. The goal for 2004 is $750,000.

“Is this the year to turn the corner and turn it up a notch?” Waganer asked, wondering if Missouri Baptists might be able to raise the standard for the 2005 MMO. “It’s going to be dependent on the churches. My dream is to go over a million.”

Most of the MMO money being raised will go toward missions, church planting, compassion ministries and evangelism in the 2005 MBC budget.

A total of 936 churches have sent their MMO checks to the Baptist Building. Last year, a total of 992 churches participated.

“We look forward to seeing the churches that haven’t already given join the ranks of those that have in surpassing the $750,000 goal,” Waganer said.
