Lottie Moon giving at $2.9 million

December 16, 2003

As of Dec. 12, the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) had collected $2.9 million for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for foreign missions. The MBC goal is $3.5 million.

Missouri Valley Baptist Church , St. Joseph , set a goal of $1,000 for the offering. That was met in November. The revised goal is $2,000 for the church that typically runs 35-40 in Sunday School.

“I am convinced that the additional missions giving is certainly a reflection of the love of Christ residing in their hearts and overflowing through their giving," said Pastor Micah Fries, noting that last year the church gave $385 to the offering.

Gifts for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering will continue to come in for the month of December, meaning the total will climb higher than the $2,933,751.35 that has been collected, MBC Controller Jay Hughes said.
