Corrections made in 2004 MBC budget, distribution of William Jewell dollars

November 4, 2003

The Pathway, in an Oct. 21 front-page story headlined “Legal battle funding plan recommended," incorrectly reported how the $1,050,000, formerly earmarked for William Jewell College, will be distributed according to the proposed 2004 Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC) budget.

If approved by messengers to the MBC’s annual meeting in St. Louis, Nov. 3-5, the money will be distributed in the following manner:

  • $200,000 will be given to Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. $100,000 will go toward an endowment, while the other $100,000 will go toward the school’s associates’ degree program.
  • $200,000 will be used for $100,000 endowments each at Hannibal-LaGrange College and Southwest Baptist University.
  • $100,000 will go to The Baptist Children’s Home for an endowment.
  • $100,000 will go to the Missouri Baptist Convention church planting ministry.

The remaining $450,000 will be held in a reserve account.

The Pathway is glad to make the correction.
