SBU leader, student citedfor leadership

JEFFERSON CITY – A college student and a college Baptist Student Union minister were honored at the recent 2004 Leadership Development Conference for collegiate student leaders.

Becky Jacobson, campus minister at College of the Ozarks, and Dustin Nelson, student leader from the Baptist Student Union at Southwest Missouri State University , received the Bill Davis Award for Excellence in Christian Leadership.

The award is given in honor of Bill Davis, a former campus minister in Missouri . The award is given in recognition of outstanding leadership.

The 2004 conference attracted 200 students, campus ministers and church collegiate ministry directors from across Missouri . The weekend conference featured John Michael, vice-president of Ministry Insights International.

Protesting: How should churches respond?

The Evangelical world was shocked on Jan. 18, 2026, when a group of roughly 30 protestors invaded Cities Church in St. Paul, Minn., during a worship service. While Christians aren’t surprised when unbelievers sin, we were shocked to see the sacred space of religious worship attacked so blatantly. This remarkable action should lead Christians and churches to think clearly about what the Bible says regarding protesting and how churches should biblically respond.
