JEFFERSON CITY – Bill Shiflett, associate pastor of music and worship at First Baptist Church at the Mall, Lakeland, Fla., has accepted an offer to become state worship specialist for the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC).
Shiflett, 35, has served at the Florida church since 1998. He serves as director and worship leader for three morning worship services (both traditional and contemporary) and one evening service.
He will begin work in Missouri on July 14.
In addition to serving as worship leader, Shiflett has been in charge of vocal ensembles and pastoral administration of mission congregations.
An Oklahoma native, Shiflett served at Baptist churches in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Broken Arrow, Okla., and Sapulpa, Okla., before taking the job at First Baptist, Lakeland. He is a graduate of Oklahoma City University.
