Offering praise when government leaders do good
Put me at the head of the class when it comes to criticizing public officials when I think they have made a poor decision. I strive not to let my temper get the best of me when doing so, avoiding personal attacks at all cost. After all, I have a personal testimony on display and I want Christ lifted up. I try to focus my criticism at the consequences of their actions. For example, if they pass laws that threaten our freedom or are contrary to God’s Word, they are going to hear from me. … [Read more...]

If the GOP is pro-life, pro-moms, then prove it!
Republicans consistently run for office as pro-life candidates. The party’s opposition to abortion is in its national plank that outlines the GOP’s positions on issues. This makes the recent behavior of the Missouri Senate so puzzling, if not downright inexcusable. Here is what has happened: First, a federal judge issued a ruling that invited an expansion of abortion clinics in Missouri (currently only one – in St. Louis – exists). Then the St. Louis City Council passed an outrageous … [Read more...]

These are potentially good days for Missouri’s children and pregnant moms who need assistance. Gov. Diane Franklin (R-Camdenton) and Cloris Brown (R-St. Louis) along with Sen. David Sater (R-Cassville), the new law is designed to ensure the protection of children from human traffickers, making the act of sex trafficking … [Read more...]
Historic Baptists, liberty and the Trinity case
KANSAS CITY – What would John Leland say about scrap tires? Missourians, including churches that own vehicles, pay a fee to keep used tires out of streams and landfills. The fee underwrites a rebate for rubber playground surfaces. It’s open to all nonprofit groups, to keep kids safer and the environment cleaner. Trinity Lutheran Church, in Columbia, applied for a rebate. It was rejected, but not because the money ran out. It was rejected because it is a church. Missouri’s Constitution … [Read more...]

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Eric Greitens called a second special session of the Missouri General Assembly this year with the aim of striking down a St. Louis ordinance that makes it an “abortion sanctuary city.” Starting June 12 and continuing as long as needed, the special session will center around stricter regulations on abortion clinics, including requiring annual inspections and that clinics adopt plans for potential medical complications, Greitens said in a statement. Religious liberty bill prevails in Mo. Assembly, Gov. Greitens expected to sign to into law
JEFFERSON CITY -- People of faith in Missouri won a tremendous victory late last night (May 8) in the cause for religious liberty – and few people knew it was even happening due to a low-key strategy leading to passage of a bill everyone thought was solely about tort reform. The measure known as Senate Bill 43 (SB 43) restored the religious exemption to the Missouri Human Rights Act (MHRA) after its removal by the Missouri Supreme Court in a 2013 ruling. The Missouri House of … [Read more...]
