A St. Louis Circuit Court Judge ruled Nov. 5 that Missouri's definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman is unconstitutional. "The Court finds and declares that any same sex couple that satisfies all the requirements for marriage under Missouri Law, other than being of different sexes, is legally entitled to a marriage license," wrote Judge Rex Burlison. Meanwhile, Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has appealed the ruling to the Missouri Supreme Court, but did not … [Read more...]
1 million worthless votes
JEFFERSON CITY – A state judge, backed by Attorney General Chris Koster, has ruled that part of Missouri’s constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman is illegal. Jackson County Circuit Judge J. Dale Youngs’ Oct. 3 ruling opens the door for same-sex couples “married” in other states to collect a host of benefits previously afforded only to heterosexual married couples in Missouri. The ruling contradicts a voter approved constitutional amendment passed in … [Read more...]
Congress must act, end judicial tyranny
Federal judges have invalidated the will of millions of Americans who voted to amend their state constitutions to define marriage as a union of a man and a woman. I am shocked at the lack of outrage no matter where you stand on the issue. These judges have robbed citizens of the sacred right of voting and upset the balance of powers between the judicial, legislative and executive branches of government. These federal judges are not elected and are given lifetime appointments, often by … [Read more...]

It goes into effect immediately. Council members Doug Burlison, Mike Carroll, Craig Hosmer, Jan Fisk, Cindy … [Read more...]

Outrageous, arrogant ruling by judge, Koster
Jackson County Circuit Judge J. Dale Youngs, appointed to the court in 2009 by Democrat Gov. Jay Nixon, ruled Oct. 3 that part of Missouri's Constitutional ban on same-sex marriage is illegal and the state must recognize same-sex marriages occurring in other states. This arrogant and outrageous ruling comes despite Missouri citizens voting in 2004 by a 71-29 percent margin to amend the state Constitution to say that marriage will be only between a man and a woman. This ruling makes a … [Read more...]
Larry Lewis: leading SBC to support life
Dr. Larry Lewis was shocked when in 1979 he opened a St. Louis newspaper to see the full-page ad listing the religious denominations and groups who favored a “pro-choice” – a pro-abortion – position. He learned that the ad was also in other major newspapers throughout the country. In that listing “… right along with the Unitarians … ” was the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest protestant denomination! This shock set him in motion. He discovered and was further … [Read more...]
MBC asks Supreme Court for a sign – of freedom
The Missouri Baptist Convention has filed a brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in joining other religious groups asking for a sign – that religious freedom trumps local sign codes which discriminate against churches and church plants. The case, Reed v. Town of Gilbert, originating the Phoenix area, is potentially the most important religious freedom case on the Supreme Court's docket in the new term beginning Oct. 6. Michael and Jonathan Whitehead, a father-son legal team in Kansas City, … [Read more...]
72-hour abortion wait becomes law despite veto
JEFFERSON CITY – It took until the final hours of the veto session late on Sept. 10, but the Missouri legislature has overridden Gov. In what pro-life leaders are calling a major victory, women must now wait three days after an initial consultation with a doctor when seeking an abortion. Missouri’s previous waiting period was 24 hours. The vote tally was 117-44 in the … [Read more...]
Abedini prayer vigil set for Sept. 26
TEHRAN, Iran – Christian persecution and yes, genocide, is real in the world today, and Naghmeh Abedini is calling out to the body of Christ to pray. Sept. 26 will mark two long years since her husband and American pastor, Saeed Abedini, was imprisoned in Iran for his Christian faith. And most recently, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorists were brought into the same prison as Saeed. Because he is both an American and a Christian convert, he immediately started receiving … [Read more...]
