BRIDGETON – The Missouri Baptist Children’s Home (MBCH) made a statement for families and its place in Baptist life by affirming the 2000 version of Baptist Faith and Message during its July 25 board meeting here. During an ongoing mission audit, MBCH leadership realized that despite being in operation and cooperation with Missouri Baptists since 1886, the ministry never adopted a formalized statement of faith. In order to shore up its identity and legal position for hiring Christians … [Read more...]

The Pathway flourishes, others face challenges
Circulation and readership is growing at a remarkable pace for The Pathway, bucking a trend that many other state convention newspapers are experiencing. While The Pathway flourishes, Missouri Baptists should be aware that is not the case for many other state convention newspapers throughout the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). It is an issue deserving of much-needed discussion by Southern Baptists. The SBC’s viability may turn on how this issue is treated. Secular printed newspapers … [Read more...]
Church finds new life after near death
LEBANON – A church that three years ago was minutes away from closing its doors is now experiencing revitalization. In the fall of 2014, Competition Baptist Church, a rural church located about 20 miles southeast of Lebanon, had dwindled to six congregants who didn’t see a way forward. Yet God used timely wisdom and a willing young pastor to bring new life to the 120-year-old church. Steven Strauch, DOM for the Laclede Baptist Association, described the church’s dilemma. After the … [Read more...]

ST. ROBERT – Kenneth and Vickie Campbell searched for 30 years for the right parcel of land on the river outside of Rolla. 30 years of searching, but nothing felt right. The couple, long-time members of … [Read more...]

In 2002 the west side of Sedalia was starting to thrive and there was no evangelical presence in the area. “We started in a barn and we’ve seen some amazing miracles along the way,” said Payne. … [Read more...]
Despite lack of disasters, DR interns soldier on through summer’s heat
