GREENWOOD – For the church in Greenwood, a small Kansas City nearly surrounded by Lee’s Summit, it’s all about God’s timing. In 2011, First Baptist Church, Greenwood, was near the end of its ministry, and was ready to shut its doors. Instead of leaving the neighborhood without a Gospel witness, they donated their assets to Lenexa Baptist Church (a congregation which sits across the Kansas state line but is still a member of the Missouri Baptist Convention) to replant the church as a Lenexa … [Read more...]

Nearly 60 people professed faith in Christ during the three-day event, and another 70 people took other spiritual steps towards Christ, according to John Stroup, a member of Crossway Baptist Church here and one of the founders of … [Read more...]
‘God is real,’ Harvey survivor blesses Mo. DR workers with testimony
TEXAS CITY, Texas – Days spent responding to Hurricane Harvey were long, humid and exhausting. But ask any one of the hundreds who answered the call to bring help hope and healing, and they would most likely say the sacrifice was worth being a blessing to someone else in need. Often times, in fact, they are the ones who come away blessed. Such is the case of those volunteers who were fortunate to meet Maria Renovato and hear her testimony one evening. “Before the Hurricane,” she told the … [Read more...]

Fed judge strikes clergy housing allowance
MADISON, Wisc. (BP) – For a second time a federal judge in Wisconsin has ruled the U.S. Tax Code’s ministerial housing allowance is unconstitutional. But the ruling does not impact Missouri clergy, only those in Wisconsin so far, said Missouri Baptist Convention general counsel Michael Whitehead. U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb once again attempted to strike down the housing allowance, issuing her decision on Oct. 9. Her previous ruling on the matter was struck down by the Seventh U.S. … [Read more...]
Mineral area blessed by woman after God’s own heart
POTOSI – With Bibles open to learn and hearts open to receive, 197 women hung on every word Bev McCulloch had to say. “God wants a woman with a contented heart,” McCulloch said. “Show your faith by your smile and your rested sigh. Can you imagine the difference it would make in a marriage if every day the husband were aware that his wife was happy with what she had, and was happy with him? Think what children would learn about building their own home if they saw mother filled with the joy … [Read more...]
Satanists, judiciary empower Missouri abortion industry
JEFFERSON CITY – Lawmakers aren’t to blame for Planned Parenthood’s most recent expansion in Missouri, according to some of the state’s pro-life advocates. Instead, the abortion industry is making a comeback in the state with the help of judicial decisions – and the Satanic Temple. Planned Parenthood’s legal fight to gain ground in Missouri took a turn in the abortion industry’s favor because of an order released, Oct. 2, by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The court battle centers … [Read more...]
Mo. Sen. David Sater: Creating a better foster care system
There are over 13,000 children currently in Missouri’s foster care system. Due to circumstances beyond their control, these children are wards of our state. That means that they are our responsibility and, in a way, are all our children. They are Missouri’s children. Over time, some of these 13,000 children will return to their families, some will be adopted and some will remain in the system until they age out. Sometimes, these children come to the state from difficult and even tragic … [Read more...]
MBC’s ‘Pray Across Missouri’ schedule available online

The “Pray Across Missouri” initiative is a cooperative effort of Missouri Baptists to engage in prayer for the transformation of lives and communities with the … [Read more...]
Burfordville experiencing true revival; 63 baptized in 16 months
BURFORDVILLE – Bryon Kindle claims he isn’t a good preacher. “I drive my wife insane every time I butcher the English language,” said Kindle, pastor at Burfordville Baptist Church here. “I am not an attractive person, and I can’t sing. But praise God it’s not about personalities. It’s about Jesus Christ. There is no reason we should see what has been going on down here. No reason other than it’s 100 percent about Christ.” Burfordville, a small town west of Cape Girardeau, is experiencing … [Read more...]
Church’s gift shields Sedalia’s ‘men in blue’
SEDALIA – Members of Katy Park Baptist Church here raised support for local law enforcement after a $25,000 grant from State Farm Insurance fell through, leaving Sedalia’s “men in blue” without funds to buy protective helmets and vests. Katy Park’s Senior Pastor Jon Church and Associate Pastor Richard DeFord presented a check of $2,035 to Sedalia Police Commander Larry Ward, Sept. 8. The church made the donation in honor of one of their own members, who serves with the police … [Read more...]
MBC’s Moncada prayerwalks post-riot St. Louis’ Delmar Loop
ST. LOUIS – Ed Moncada was headed to church Sunday morning, just like he does every week. But it wasn’t just like every week. It was two days after a not-guilty verdict in a police shooting trial sparked protests that turned violent and vandalism that damaged or destroyed much of the Delmar Loop area. As Moncada continued to church, the Missouri Baptist Convention multicultural student specialist felt burdened and turned off his route to South County Baptist Church and headed toward the … [Read more...]
