NOTE: May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the U.S. During this season, the International Mission Board is celebrating the rich contributions of Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to the Revelation 7:9 vision. The emphasis is designed to motivate Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to consider missions with the IMB and to mobilize Asian fellowships within the Southern Baptist Convention to partner with IMB in reaching the nations with the good news of … [Read more...]

How can we mobilize church members for missions?
Last month, my church hosted an event called “Together for the Nations” put on by the International Mission Board (IMB). The purpose of this event was to introduce churches to the work of the IMB and encourage them to consider ways to join these mission efforts around the world. Several topics were addressed at this event, but the one from which I gleaned the most was about mobilizing God’s people for mission work. For pastors, few things are more exciting than mobilizing God’s people on a … [Read more...]

Two St. Louis-area church events help Christians answer cultural questions
ST. LOUIS – Questions are swirling around Christians in today's culture, and 1 Peter 3:15 charges believers to always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks for a reason for the hope in Christ. Two events equipped both adults and youth to give those answers. A St. Louis Youth Conference was held on April 6 at First Baptist Church St. John in St. Charles, and an event called “Navigating Hot Topics with a Cool Head” was held for all ages at Fellowship of Wildwood (FOW), April … [Read more...]

The FBCA club also shared gospel testimonies with the public school students, explaining how Christ impacts their lives. The robotics club at FBCA—a ministry of First Baptist Church O’Fallon (FBCO)—recently acquired new Lego EV3 robots. They donated their seven used robots to Milestone Church in Girvan, Scotland, … [Read more...]
From France to Mizzou: Church planter brings missionary mindset to campus ministry
EDITOR'S NOTE: This article was corrected at 2:45 p.m., April 10, to read that The Bridge Collegiate Ministry at the University of Missouri was started by Missouri Baptist campus missionary Scott Westfall. COLUMBIA – For a mission field as ripe as a college campus, it makes sense to send a missionary. That’s exactly why former missionary and current Missouri Baptist church-planter Colby Corsaut aims to reach college students in Columbia. Corsaut comes to mid-Missouri by way of 10 years … [Read more...]

Easter Sunday remains a high attendance day for most churches
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (BP) — Most pastors are expecting one of their largest crowds on Easter, but those expectations have tempered some in the past decade. The three highest-attendance Sundays for pastors—Easter, Christmas and Mother’s Day—have remained the same since 2011, but each is now less likely to be among the top days, according to a Lifeway Research study of U.S. Protestant pastors. “While many churches consider high attendance as something from their pre-pandemic past, seasonal … [Read more...]
From the mission field: Easter dramas proclaim gospel in Asia-Pacific Rim
By Jacob and Julie Stanley He has risen! As you celebrate this Easter season, please remember your many IMB missionaries on the field. In some areas, like where we live in the Asia-Pacific Rim, it’s the perfect time to explain the true meaning of this holiday. We want you to know how Christians are presenting the gospel on the island nation where we live. A couple of years ago, we partnered with national believers to do a dramatic presentation of Jesus' miracles, death, burial and … [Read more...]
Send Missouri
Recently, I was blessed with the opportunity to fellowship alongside Send Missouri in St. Louis. For those unaware, Send Missouri is in close partnership with the MBC to help churches plant churches in Missouri, and it’s funded by your generous Cooperative Program support. Jason Zellmer leads Send Missouri, and in the short amount of time we’ve spent together, I’ve already been blessed by his enthusiasm for serving the local church. The gathering in St. Louis was well attended, with nearly … [Read more...]
Sharing Jesus a way of life for Missouri evangelist
WAYNESVILLE – Sharing Jesus is our Great Commission, and Larry Atkins – pastor emeritus of Buckhorn FBC, Waynesville, and member of the Fellowship of Missouri Baptist Evangelists – has made it a way of life. “We all should make sharing a part of our work or whatever we are doing,” Atkins said. “We need to be on the lookout for an opportunity to share.” In addition to being a pastor through the years, Atkins has led more than 200 revivals. “Whenever I was being considered as a pastor for … [Read more...]
Global Rural Network wants rural churches to partner with IMB
RICHMOND, Va. (IMB) – Reaching rural communities with the gospel is something Jeff Clark is passionate about. He grew up in a farming community. Then, God called him to minister among rural peoples in Asia. It’s only natural for the International Mission Board rural network mobilizer to envision his two worlds colliding — rural churches in the U.S. connecting with IMB’s rural ministries through a global rural network. “It doesn’t matter where you are from or even if you share a language, … [Read more...]
