GREENWOOD – Fellowship Church used the first Saturday in May for another of their “Live to Bless” activities. On May 6, the church gave away thousands of brand new clothes, assisted by Garments of Praise ministry. In addition, they also gave away 48 haircuts and 36 oil changes, all for free. “The bottom line is this: Two years ago, our church began to consider what if they took Christ seriously (for loving their neighbor). We’re a legacy church going on six years when before we were … [Read more...]
Family makes disciples across three generations
ELDON – Often, it is a blessing when a pastor’s son joins the ministry. The blessing may have been tripled for a recent revival service at Aurora Springs Baptist here. Tim Smith’s s father Bill Smith joined son Tim and grandson Caleb Smith, current co-pastors of Aurora Springs Baptist Church, in a post-Easter revival service series. Each man took a night to preach during the revival, beginning with Tim, then Bill, then Caleb. All preached from John 20 or 21. Tim preached on the theme … [Read more...]

Compassion: ministry’s missing link
SPRINGFIELD – Ed Stetzer believes a main reason more people are not witnessing to the lost is a lack of compassion. Stetzer, executive director for the Billy Graham Center for Evangelism at Wheaton College, indicated many people have a saving faith in Jesus Christ, and many believe those without faith should be reached, but lack their own conviction in carrying out personal evangelism. Stetzer shared Matthew 9:35-38 where Jesus told the disciples to pray to the Lord of the harvest for the … [Read more...]
Mission is to make disciples

Go, pray, proclaim, repeat
NEOSHO – For a decade, Calvary Baptist has been on mission in Thailand and in Africa. One truth coming from both locales is the need for repeat visits. The work in Africa “Calvary was a guinea pig for the engaging churches that the IMB started. Rick Hedger (now MBC staff) was pastor before I came,” said current pastor Roger Brumley. “First we had to “find the (African) people group we had adopted,” Brumley said. Through the years, they found and ministered to them in Guinea-Bissau, … [Read more...]
