JEFFERSON CITY — More than 300 Missouri Baptist churches distributed nearly 25,000 Bibles and New Testaments across Missouri in 2014, according to the Annual Church Profile.
The top 10 churches ranged in size from 50 to 450 in worship.
“Each church was dedicated to establishing the authority of God’s Word in their community,” Mark Snowden, evangelism-discipleship strategist for the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC), said. “I’d really like to see Bible distribution continue beyond the ‘Light Up Missouri’ campaign and become part of every church’s evangelism efforts.”
Under the leadership of Pastor Jeff Lunn, Park Baptist, Florissant, led the way in Bible distribution in 2014, handing out 4,800 Bibles, primarily New Testaments. Other churches among the top 10 in Bible distribution for the year included: The Pursuit, Springfield, with 2,000 Bibles; Second Baptist, Bowling Green, with 1,234 Bibles; U Church, Kansas City, with 1,100 Bibles; LifeQuest, Belton, with 1,000 Bibles; Calvary, Bourbon, with 812 Bibles; Copeland, St. Joseph, with 701 Bibles; First Baptist, Sarcoxie, with 700 Bibles; South County, St. Louis, with 668 Bibles; and First Baptist Warsaw, with 500 Bibles.
